MS. LATRICIA M BROWN

Latricia M. Brown is a passionate Michigan educator with over two decades of experience transforming urban education. She began her career teaching third and fourth grades at a high-performing K–8 school in Detroit, where her commitment to excellence left a lasting impact. Even after 20 years, Latricia remains connected to many of her former students—some of whom she now employs at the school where she serves as principal.

Latricia’s leadership emerged powerfully when she joined a struggling school in Flint as an instructional coach. Through her expertise, vision, and innovative strategies, she led the school to become a State of Michigan Reward School within just one year, earning her a promotion to principal. Over the next 12 years, she built a legacy of sustained academic success that continues to inspire.

Currently serving as a K–5 principal in Pontiac, Michigan, Latricia continues to champion academic achievement and holistic student development. She fosters an environment free of excuses—one that is focused on consistent learning and high expectations. She believes that when educators are engaging, caring, and encouraging, all children can thrive—regardless of external circumstances.

Beyond the classroom, Latricia advances her broader mission by mentoring young women, writing books, and speaking globally. She is committed to building the self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-efficacy of girls and women—encouraging them through educational awareness to find their voice and Speak Until Someone Listens.
